DIRECT SERVICE PROGRAMS
The direct service programs provide a safety net for families by reducing the effects of poverty in our community
- CRISIS ASSISTANCE
- HCCS provides many forms of crisis assistance to families in need, whether from natural disaster or impoverishment. Families are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, color or creed. Budget counseling and case management are provided as needed.
- CLOTHES CLOSET
- HCCS has available various items of clothing and shoes for men, women and children in need. Donations of clean items, in good repair are welcome. Contact HCCS for donation hours.
- FOOD PANTRY
- HCCS has available food and grocery items and other necessities, such as diapers, soap and other personal care items for those in need. If interested in making food donations, contact HCCS for further information.

- RENT ASSISTANCE
- HCCS provides assistance with the application process forSection 8 rental assistance. Section 8 helps qualifying families to rent housing from participating landlords based on their income.
- TRANSIENT ASSISTANCE
- Transient assistance services funded in coordination with Metro United Way, the Salvation Army and the Harrison County Ministerial Association.
- REPAIR AFFAIR
- HCCS completes applications for this volunteer program which provides minor home repairs to senior citizens and the disabled. Various civic organizations, businesses and churches provide labor and materials.
- HOOSIER HEALTHWISE
- HCCS completes applications for children through eighteen years of age and pregnant women in need of health insurance.
- SC 40 TAX FORM ASSISTANCE
- HCCS provides assistance with filing for utility tax refund for low income seniors.
